I am Pablo Aguilar, a Los Angeles-based photographer who was a part of this party scene from 1984-1988. Together, with a group of friends, we organized, designed, and passed out these fliers every weekend throughout L.A. I‘ve selected flyers from my collection, and wanted to both share with a new generation, and generate some nostalgia for those who experienced it firsthand. 

These fliers serve as time capsules, transporting you back to a moment when the allure of the night was at its peak. Immerse yourself in the raw emotions that emanate from each flier, evoking a sense of anticipation and excitement. The art of flier design, back then, was a rich blend of creativity and innovation, capturing the essence of the party scene. From Backyards to Discotheques, the DJ’s, and promoters in LA thrived in the 1980's. We created a community that that should be acknowledged and recognized. The Los Angeles promoters and DJ’s of this era are still going strong and continue to grow.
